  7. I think the hand-written note pasted on the "ARIA Company" sign on page 174 is basically a polite Japanese version of "Wet Paint".

As for the gull cries、"ミャア" is probably what was intended, a noise like "myaa".

That was also in the Ai-chan joins Aria Company manga special and left untranslated, if I remember correctly.

  9. Yep, I left the "speech" bubbles as they were in the Origination special rather than editing English text into them. I should have at least tagged them with an sfx: label, I suppose.

Note that it's non-standard Japanese -- the "mi" character (three sloping strokes) is kanji but the "small ya" character following it is a katakana modifier and not normally used as a postfix modifier for a kanji symbol. The katakana "a" at the end is quite distorted too.

  10. Err, 'mi' isn't kanji AFAIK. It's katakana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mi_(kana)

  11. Yeah, sorry. You're right about "mi" being katakana.

  12. When Alicia finishes little Aika's hairstyle redo in Aria the Animation Ep. 02, what does she say? I've seen at least three very different english translations. Thanks in advance!

  13. Before Aria, there was the Aqua manga and before that, supposedly there was a "Prima" manga by Kozue Amano. However, I have never seen or heard anything about Prima. Does it exist at all?

  14. Amano wrote Roman Club, Crescent Noise, Ohisama Egao ("Princess's Smile," I think), Yume Sora Kai/Mukuukai (Google translator says "Empty Dream World"), and Sora no Uta (Song of the Sky) before starting Aqua. The last three on that list I think might be one-shots. Aside from a couple chapters of Roman, none of them are translated as far as I know.
