This torrent contains chapters 25 + 26. I haven't downloaded 26 yet but 25 looks cleanly scanned and Japanese. Not that I know completely the difference between Chinese + Japanese off hand so I might be wrong. (The link looks crazy but should work)
I couldn't find them anywhere. I don't think they exist on the internet! I guess the next best hope is finding a transcript of the chapter in Japaneese...
I have to say, thank you all for allowing us to read Amanchu and Aria (I was/am watching The Origination today so yeah... I've got one of those moods that series instills in you) and I'm very grateful that you are continuing with Amanchu (I was wondering what happened for the longest time). Aria had a major impact on my life due to the message it brought with it. I wouldn't have been able to keep my chin up if you all hadn't made it available.
We're the ones who should be thankful, you guys are so nice and patient. Hopefully we'll be able to find raws soon so you guys won't need to wait another 6 months!
And Amano's work has had the same impact on us, so we're not stopping no matter what.
The Honda-sponsored "One Off" motor-scooter themed OVA was a splendid idea by Satojun! I wonder why ARIA was not made the same way? With a heap of sponsorship money thrown at them, more episodes could have been made and with more fluent, detailed graphics.
In exchange for the buck, Aika-chan would regularly proclaim on screen that Himeya has the best Tramontin gondolas, the only brand worthy of a heiress. Meanwhile Alice + Akari receive "budget" Bonaldo and Dai Rossi gondolas from their companies. Of course, Aria and Orange Planet gondolas would be prominently shown to need unexpected drydock repairs every third episode and go to the scrapyard as their maker leaves business, etc.
Furthermore, Alicia should stop making bento and the girls rather go to Mconalds, big product endorsement money for the animation studio.
Is someone writing ARIA light novels without even knowing about it?
"The gondola is my instrument. She doesn't make music like a guitar or a cello, but she will literally take you places. I can get a couple on my gondola, row out on the water, and help them escape their problems for a time. Then, with the gentle waves lapping against the side of her hull, I can point the boat towards the setting sun or a rising moon, and if I sing just the right song, in just the right way, I can speak to their hearts and maybe even provide them with a memory that they will cherish forever. I am a gondolier, and the gondola is my instrument."
Was having a rough morning til I realized I could be reading amanchu on my phone. Thanks for the continued effort, here's hoping you get some clean raws. oh, and hi basaka
If anybody here is from Hungary, you may learn that a real venetian gondola is supposed to arrive at Budapest on Tuesday. It is being rowed down the Danube (Duna) river by a venetian senior. He left Vienna on Thursday. Here is a news article.
> "A real venetian gondola is supposed to arrive at Budapest on Tuesday. It is being rowed down the Danube (Duna) river by a venetian senior."
The gondolier mistook the ship-lifting lock and turned into the turbine inlet of the Gabcikovo-Nagymaros hydro-electric dam on Saturday, halfway into the Danube trip. Was nearly sucked in and saved by slovak firefighters after several hours' effort.
One must be glad planet Aqua has only shipping locks, not Hoover Dams, else ARIA would be over in two navigations with Akari ending up as minced meat... Kaplan turbines are neither steki or sugoi nor kiree but maybe shigi. You can only see their interiors once and then its game over.
Vittorio Orio, the venetian senior on expedition has arrived in his black gondola at Budapest, Hungary where he was greeted by some dignitaries opposite the vast building of Parliament.
I felt a bit like watching Alice's reception at the Hill, real life, front seat also, literally. Except there was no canzone this time, for which our ears are probably most greatful. (HSK!)
Hello, Amanchu! tankobon vol. 5 is now available and Comic Blade Mag 2012/11 also has an Amanchu cover.
Furthermore, the monthly Comic Blade Mag (with Amanchu in it) is now available for online puchase as an Apple / Android e-book. That could solve the issue of supplying non-defaced, non-chinese raws.
The Amanchu! 5 booklet do not ship until October 10th, according to MAG's official website.
In fact there will be two 600yen booklets, one for Amanchu! volume 5 and another, a special called "Mamanchu!" that appears to have chibi-Amanchu (chibi-Aria?) themed drawings about topics related to parenting an infant. It's outer cover is a parody of the Amanchu volume 1 cover graphics.
I have no tablet or e-book reader, so I cannot comment on the tech and cost aspects of online editions.
Could someone please translate the short Mamanchu! comment here? Appears to be a little spoiler, but neither Google nor Babelfish machine translators make much sense of that. Thanks!
> The problem right now is we don't have any raws!
More precisely, there is no known japanese raw scan and nobody is willing to use those watermarked chinese scanlations as "pseudo-raws" to start the english scanlation. Regrettably, nobody has been able to find out where those chinese scanlators get their japanese raws.
The options are:
1., Track down those chinese scanlators and give them the chinese water torture, until they divulge the site of their hidden raw cache. (preferred method)
2., Someone order the Amacnhu! volume 4 and 5 tankobons straight from Japan. They booklets are cheap, but shipping by proxy is a pain and costs a whole lot.
3., Buy the tankobons online in e-book format, but nobody knows if they are full resolution or already dowsized for reading on 5-6" e-ink screens (latter is no good).
4. Keep waiting until japanese raw scans turn up somewhere on the net or just wait until Amanchu! gets animated and do the sub.
There seems to be a link for all the volumes till now here. I see that they have volume 05, as well.....
Umm, not sure what you want me to do with this? I obviously can't release another groups stuff. Can you contact me on msn or query me on irc or something.
It's not by us. An ex-tl from a long time ago decided to randomly pick it up. Trying to get some more details but I don't really want to "compete" with other groups or whatever, in the end the only thing that matters for readers is its getting done, so if he wants to do it then we'll give up on it - as I don't see the point in doing it twice. Wish he'd discuss it with me about it first though, as I feel it's common courtesy since I've been working on this for so many years..
I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait a just a little longer for the chapters - Exam season is upon me, alas.
I'm more than happy to entertain you with flowering control in arabidopsis, auxin signaling or science commercialization theories in the meanwhile though.
I just read chapter 25 at Mangafox. Did you guys do that one? It seems to be fairly nicely done in any case. It's also extremely creepy and to me it feels completely out of place compared to the rest, which is a lot more "normal".
pretty awesome that Amano-sensei knows Rocky Balboa lol,Teatime also said that they already finished chapter 27 http://www.mangahere.com/manga/amanchu/v02/c026/28.html
Alice was titled "La nuova stella" on the Mensile Undine cover and technically speaking the Sun is also a star. Yet somehow I find that effect jarring.
Can you confirm if the entire AQUA-ARIA manga saga has already been scanlated to english? (Except maybe the lenghty Chapter 10 special at the end of AQUA volume 2.)
I've just realized that Junichi Sato, the director of ARIA anime has an active Twitter account. He still appears to be interested in the topic of ARIA and Venice and made dozens of related twits, including some as recent as December 2012. He appears to answer fan's questions sometimes, including doujin fanfic.
I don't have a command of japanese, but I've have done a Google search for "ARIA" mentions in his Twitter feed and collected those texts in a Word document, if anyone wishes to check if there is anything interesting in them. Open password is: sartorius
I also wonder if we could compile some most interesting questions, translate them to japanese and post them over Twitter and maybe Mr. Sato would answer?
According to the japanese language Wikipedia, Erino Hazuki's voice may be featured in future episodes of the currently airing "Sasamisan at Ganbaranai" hikikomori anime, in the role of someone called "Mission-chan". Maybe she had a baby after Gosick and that was why she went on hiatus from 2011 to early 2013?
This is ARIA Naver, looks like some kind of a game for the Android platform and supposed to be free. Don't know any specifics about it, as I do not have a smartphone.
Can somebody please check if this scan is from a yet-unknown Amanchu! chapter (possibly the 2013 february chapter)?
If this is indeed a new page, then someone, who has command of the japanese language, could try to ask around in this webforum, as they seem to have new Amanchu and maybe would provide raws?
Found the Entire Comic Blade magazine raw scan (137MB large) with Amanchu! nav. 35 also inside. Check the folder sized 5,518,062 bytes inside. The uploaded.net link worked for me, albeit at slow free DL speeds, taking like 35 minutes to complete.
Hi, are any of your group members willing to help ours out (seeing as you guys aren't really active anymore.) Here's the info: http://forums.mangafox.me/threads/452245-Kappa-Scans-is-Recruiting! Please email me if you want to join our cause; dakota_bee@yahoo.com
Today the Comic Blade Mag 2013/05 issue has become fully available for download at RAWXT, with the new Amanchu! chapter 36 (or 37?) inside it. The girls are back to scuba diving activity, but the scanned images are LQ. Tea-Time Scans is waiting for a HQ or MQ tankobon raw, before starting the scanlation project.
An ARIA gondola doujin game is now officially available for download for free from the creator's website. The game has every menu and settings in japanese only, however.
Thanks to the anon who posted about the gondola game! I tried it, and though I didn't get it at first - you accelerate by pressing I and decelerate using O - when I did it was a lot of fun.
The latest chapter - the one included in the download another (?) anon linked above - is chapter 37, for anybody who was wondering. It's about them getting the dry suits they ordered in chapter 31 (according to Product of Wasted Time).
Also, this is a bit late, but volume 6 is scheduled for May 10th. There's also a limited-edition version with an alternate cover that comes with Hikari and Futaba rubber coasters available on Amazon.
Comic Blade Magazine's 2013/07 issue is now available in raw at Dawnfun, with Amanchu's chapter 38 inside. This time it looks like late autumn and the little "octopus girl" goes for a stroll with Pikari. Appears to be some lyric stuff, not much happens and I can't read the japanese text.
BTW, does anyone have the italian language dub for the finale of ARIA The Originaton (ie. episodes 9 to 13)? RAI4 and RAI Smash aired that a few years ago. Even the audio tracks would be enough. Thanks!
Somebody in Japan really did his or her homework, as expected from such a diligent nation! Here is an annotated Venice map in Google Earth Japan, with several dozen relevant ARIA sites and sights marked and illustrated with photos, as well as references to Navigation chapter and page numbers.
Shocking new: Alicia Florence has just lost her gondolier licence
(It was on the radio this morning that venetian gondoliers are now regularly getting tested for alcohol, after a series of embarrassing incidents are work.)
From what I can read from that blog, they have a Hallowe'en party (in July/August?!), during which there is a borrowing contest. I assume this is the game where contestants get a scrap of paper with what they need to "borrow" on it, they find that thing, and run to the finish line with it. By an unexpected turn of events, the winner will get an extra prize in the form of a kiss from Pikari, and for some reason this gets Dotty all fired up. You can choose how to interpret that, but I know how I will myself... ;)
Google is now doing a "street view" of Venezia, first with backpack cams on foot, but purportedly there will also be a "canal view" by boat.
One must wonder if the some ARIA fans got wind of this development and will smuggle gondolier girl cosplay scenes into the panorama cam shots, just like "horse-head man" are often found in Google car footage?
Hello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/09 (August issue) is already available in low-res scanned raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 40 or 41?). Anyhow, Dotty goes Hogwarts. It's weird as usual.
Thanks for saying it was available! I liked the new chapter a lot, it's quite calm and surreal - Amano-sensei's been putting in quite a lot of surreal/supernatural stuff recently, hasn't she? - and seems to be taking place in Dotty's dream. I was also amused by the "Starcats Coffee" :D
This August 19 there was a fatal gondola crash accident in Venice that killed a german tourist. (The previous last fatal one was in 1996 or so.) Maybe ARIA was right, as pitch-black painted boats are not good for visibility even in daylight and white or bright coloured ones could, indeed be safer.
Hello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/10 (September issue) is already available in low-res scanned raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 42). Dotty and Pikari in bed!
Hello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/11 (Oct. issue) is already available in scanned jp-raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 43). Teacher is a mermaid!
A bit of trivia, which I didn't notice until reviewing some photos today. There is a venetian gondola called Alvise Carol (that name is inscribed on the family crest, which displayed in the middle of the pentagonal board that forms the front wall of the passenger compartment). See it here
I wonder if Kozue Amano saw that and remembered the name when the need arose to introduce a new gondolier girl character during the Aqua - Aria manga transition?
Yeah, I thought that too. It seems more obvious, what with Japan's seeming obsession with "Alice in Wonderland", but it would be more interesting if it came from Alvise Carol.
Akari's Manhome gondola simulator now isn't too far removed from reality, as Google Maps has finally made the full street-level Venice calle view / canal view available over the web:
Whoa, it looks great! As somebody who's never been to Venice but really wants to, this is a wonderful way to see the city. Also, since nobody seems to have posted this, Volume 7 of Amanchu! came out two months ago in the usual regular and limited editions. The cover looks nice, it's of the sister and brother (forgot their names, embarrassingly) in festival garb on it.
Volume 8 is schedule to come out on May 10th, and the limited edition version is coming with a pair of papercraft models for Dotty and Pikari! (http://mag-garden.co.jp/ad/amanchu8/index.html)
Hello, do you think this site is serious and could actually work? If yes, the stalled scanlation project of the "Mensile Undine" issues could be revived, by reducing the amount of work needed!
http://www.furiganizer.com/
"Enter Japanese text here. When done, press the "Furiganize!"-button. ... adds beautiful Furigana to any Japanese text ... learns which Kanji you already have mastered ... reveals the translation of any word if needed ... exports furiganized text seamlessly to MS Word ... supports JLPT and Jōyō standard skill levels And all that absolutely for free"
Whoops, didn't see this comment last time I was here. Well apart from the fact I'm totally inactive - this doesn't really reduce the work. Sure having furigana helps but having to manually input it all and then the biggest issue still lies with the fact no TL is willing to pick up a project this big with so much text in it. And quite frankly most of the text would only be interesting to die hard ARIA fans.
I do have everything backed up still, including a bunch of edited pages and the following pages have been translated (and mostly QC'd I recall) 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24. Just because I've started it, I'll say I'll finish it - if a TL wants to do the rest - but that's extremely unlikely, so it's pretty irrelevant.
Couldnt you use an OCR to aid in the manual input? I've tried some before and they have about a 50% success rate with japanese. Its better than nothing,
It looks like the french are already getting the Amanchu tankobon vol. 7 published in an OFFICIAL scanlation by Studio Ki-oon. The "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" are clearly defeating the anglo-american sphere here, isn't that terrible?
Manga aside - nowadays a lot of magazines and even newspapers have trouble sustaining print publications and many are moving towards digital. This is probably the direction of all these short-term throwaway print publications, which isn't bad and at least it's saving trees. Although Comic Blades free viewing decision is interesting, I guess they are going to plaster ads on every page?
However I don't see books or tankobon's fading away anytime soon, maybe sales will dip a bit but in the end these things are brought as a comfort purchase in the first place. At least this generation still has the attachment to the nice tactile feel of physically flipping book pages. Infact, I know there are existing manga that started off as web-comics and ended up getting tankobon releases. Also, I don't think people want to print shit at home to stable together for some makeshift manga when a tankobon is only 500-600 yen in the first place.
Hello! Amanchu navigations 01, 51 and 52 are now online at the new webportal which replaced the paper-print edition of MAG Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine.
Wow no ads. So I guess they are relying purely on tankobon and merchandise sales now? Too bad the quality looks quite compressed, although it's definitely a step up from LQ scans.
You may want to advise Teatime scans of this. Despite their inactivity they were the ones who uh.. so forcibly took responsibility for Amanchu. Unfortunately it's not so surprising to see a TL get bored or burnt out of a project, so you'll either have to rely on motivation to return or maybe another group to pick it up.
At least here, we'll continue being comfortably ded. I've not even been in contact with my TL for years since we agreed to drop Amanchu after Teatime took it up.
Someone is apparently auctioning off a Kozue Amano doujin circle card, possibly from Comiket. The only glitch is, it looks like having her street address, although the uploaded version has a part of it redacted.
Amanchu chapter 55 is now available for legal online viewing on the publisher's website (http://comic.mag-garden.co.jp/blade, MAG Garden Company Japan).
An Amanchu chapter 56 footnote says there will be an announcement made on 2015 February 05. I wonder if it is really about an anime adaptation, because the Amanchu! manga corpus has understandably lost traction after Mrs. Amano had a baby and could not do much scuba diving for inspiration. Lets hope it is not about ending the manga. On the other hand, we have seen anime made out of halfway abandoned manga projects, like Ikoku Meiro no Croissant for you!
My observation: Google Translate is a huge failure when trying japanese -> anything. In contrast the Babelfish.com site looks like junk, is full of intrusive ads and slowish, but the results! Suprisingly it copes well and even if the kanji input is in "flowery language" it gives you a good approximation in enlish, to help figure out the original meaning.
(The Babelfish service once belonged to DEC Altavista, the original web search engine from circa 1994, which Google later copied and superceded. Looks like money is not the only enabler when it comes to machine translation.)
In other news, an Amanchu anime by Junichi Sato appears to have been confirmed on Twitter on 6th Jan: あまんちゅアニメ化するな、監督は佐藤順一さんでよろしく
May I remind you that BOTH of Athena Glory's seiyuu, for song and voice have deceased painfully young? (Ms. Eri Kawaii and Tomoko Kawakami). It will be a bit hard to manouver around that hiatus, in case Junichi Sato really wants make "Aria the Avvenire".
On the other hand, there was some conversation here a few years ago, concerning the possibilitiy of an "ARIA the Reheat" and general consensus was it probably wouldn't work. I mean what could happen to Ai-chan that hadn't already happened to the Primas and Singles in the previous 3 cours?
On the other hand, if ARIA the Avvenire is for real, then one must wonder if Mrs. Kozue Amano spent the quarterly release Amanchu period drawing new ARIA chapters at home? But what was her source of inspiraion? I doubt if she had been able to visit Venezia with a baby on board (and the city degraded tremendously in the past 5-6 years anyhow).
This is the early leaked and taken down official announcementm, copied verbatim: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:www.mag-garden.co.jp/aria/avvenire.html
This is a rough translation, off Reddit: http://pastebin.com/abfYm8wB
BTW, in hindsight, a few days ago I noticed the header on MAG Garden's twitter feed webpage changed to a photo of Venezia. (Gondolas at the waterfront of Hotel Danieli at San Marco basin, with San Giorgio Island in the background, a well-known and cliched site). However, I considered it as a generic Kozue Amano reference for the rumored upcoming Amanchu anime. It never dawned on me that ARIA could continue on the TV. So I'm naive enough to ship x Akari...
>On the other hand, if ARIA the Avvenire is for real, then one must wonder if Mrs. Kozue Amano spent the quarterly release Amanchu period drawing new ARIA chapters at home?
Why would she be drawing up new ARIA chapters? All she needs to do is write up the scenarios and look over storyboards, from what I gather she had worked quite closely with the anime team in previous seasons and it looks to be the same with this new production - with the fact that one of the two interviews on the announcement page is with Amano herself. It also sounds like they are using most of the old Aria team, who after 4 cours of it already, I'm sure are more than familiar with this franchise.
>But what was her source of inspiraion? I doubt if she had been able to visit Venezia with a baby on board (and the city degraded tremendously in the past 5-6 years anyhow).
I've not been to Venice 5-6years ago, but this always annoys me every time I see someone complain about Venice for whatever reason. Of course it'll never live up to all the expectations of Neo-Venezia but Venice was as charming and beautiful as I expected it to be when I visited and I can certainly see how Amano fell in love with it. After all if you approach it with the ideals of Aria, then your visit is what you make of it. Regardless, I doubt she was previously making regular trips to Venice while popping out Aria chapters either.
> Why would she be drawing up new ARIA chapters? All she needs to do is write up the scenarios and look over storyboards.
I don't think the animation crew would be able to invent all those "scenery p0rn" visuals themselves. Mrs. Amano will need to give them graphics of girls und gondolas & architecture, etc., rather than just a light novel or other form of prose.
Furthermore, if the 4th series of ARIA anime proves successful, there will be a demand for it in manga form. Thus, it makes sense for K. Amano to create the manga and let SatoJun adapt that for video, rather than the other way around.
> I've not been to Venice 5-6years ago
I have been to Venice 2 times a year for 2-3 days, ever since 2009. I don't claim to be an expert, but can't deny what I saw. The degragation is visible and has multiple causes. But let's not discuss it here, as we are celebrating now, maybe?
>I don't think the animation crew would be able to invent all those "scenery p0rn" visuals themselves. Mrs. Amano will need to give them graphics of girls und gondolas & architecture, etc., rather than just a light novel or other form of prose.
Ehh if you watched the dvd bonuses of the first few seasons, you can see the crew have visited Venice to gather visual referencing. And obviously anime episodes themselves aren't 100% referencing the Manga, its 23minutes of moving frames, all the in between isn't hand held by Amano frame by frame. If anything a Manga chapter is a lot less detailed than an actual storyboard.
>I have been to Venice 2 times a year for 2-3 days, ever since 2009. I don't claim to be an expert, but can't deny what I saw. The degragation is visible and has multiple causes. I'm not arguing there is no degradation of Venice, there no doubt is. I'm more arguing that I always see people have such high expectations of the place and then end up complaining about this or that when they finally go there, instead of enjoying it for what it is.
It's very sad that both of Athena's seiyuus are dead, but it's not like getting a new seiyuu is impossible to do. They changed Strike Witches' Mio's seiyuu "just" because she got pregnant and was gonna become a mom. It's not a real problem, at all.
About the story, as much as it would be wonderful to see brand new Aria shenanigans, I REALLY want to see them adapting all the chapters that were left behind, like the end of the Cait Sith story line and many more.
Anyway, it wasn't confirmed that we're gonna get a new TV season, right? Might be a movie?
I think this thread be closed and a whole new entry should be created in this blog for the occasion. After all, the 10th anniversary ARIA revival is quite a unique announcement.
Hi there. I know the entry is pretty old, but I just want to drop by to show appreciation for the scans and translation. I love Amano sensei's work(I religiously study Aria annually). But her manga is very hard to come by in my country (people don't really read drama and art piece around here). So thank you for your great work.

This torrent contains chapters 25 + 26. I haven't downloaded 26 yet but 25 looks cleanly scanned and Japanese. Not that I know completely the difference between Chinese + Japanese off hand so I might be wrong. (The link looks crazy but should work)

Yup, those are indeed Chinese. That's a bummer, since I was thinking of having a stab at a chapter myself. I need to practice my Japanese, see.

ReplyDeleteWhich issue of "Monthly Undine" have you been working on?
ReplyDeleteThe first one. It is not exactly being worked on, as it needs a TL to finish the rest of it.
DeleteWhich parts still need to be translated? :3
DeleteProbably 50-60% of it left.

ReplyDelete"The gondola is my instrument.
ReplyDeleteoh, and hi basaka
Hello,
ReplyDeleteIf anybody here is from Hungary, you may learn that a real venetian gondola is supposed to arrive at Budapest on Tuesday. It is being rowed down the Danube (Duna) river by a venetian senior. He left Vienna on Thursday. Here is a news article.
Kind regards: Tamas Feher from Hungary.
> "A real venetian gondola is supposed to arrive at Budapest on Tuesday. It is being rowed down the Danube (Duna) river by a venetian senior."
ReplyDeleteThe gondolier mistook the ship-lifting lock and turned into the turbine inlet of the Gabcikovo-Nagymaros hydro-electric dam on Saturday, halfway into the Danube trip.
ReplyDeleteI felt a bit like watching Alice's reception at the Hill, real life, front seat also, literally. Except there was no canzone this time, for which our ears are probably most greatful. (HSK!)
Hello, Amanchu! tankobon vol. 5 is now available and Comic Blade Mag 2012/11 also has an Amanchu cover.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, the monthly Comic Blade Mag (with Amanchu in it) is now available for online puchase as an Apple / Android e-book. That could solve the issue of supplying non-defaced, non-chinese raws.
Raws for vol.5 would be helpful if anyone can find some.
DeleteBut wouldn't page/image size for an android e-book be quite small? What is the cost for it anyway?
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe Amanchu!
Monthly Comic Blade 2012/11 has Amanchu cover sheet.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that, Pikari meets Caith Sith?
MAG Garden Comic Blade's blog entry on the new Amanchu booklets with some thumbnails for posters.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteCould someone please translate the short Mamanchu! comment here? Appears to be a little spoiler, but neither Google nor Babelfish machine translators make much sense of that. Thanks!
*sigh*
ReplyDeleteI wish that the next chapter will be out. What is Amano sensei taking so long?
Her maternity leave already over, right?
There are a few chapters out. The problem right now is we don't have any raws!
Delete> The problem right now is we don't have any raws!
ReplyDeleteMore precisely, there is no known japanese raw scan and nobody is willing to use those watermarked chinese scanlations as "pseudo-raws" to start the english scanlation.
Do an interest check for donations to buy the raws.(I will probably give $15)
ReplyDeleteHow much do the paper and e-book cost anyways?
> How much do the paper and e-book cost anyways?
DeleteThis website appears to be affordable for Amanchu volume 5.
The paperback book itself is 7 USD or 5.5 euros, but shipping via registered air mail delivery may add a further 15-20 euros to the total cost.
This guy is supposed to be the chinese Amanchu raw supplier: firehooharia at yahoo dot com dot hk / martinkwok at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteWas in the University of Hong Kong on a full english curriculum.
There seems to be a link for all the volumes till now here.
ReplyDeleteI see that they have volume 05, as well.....
We love you anon.
DeleteMez get in #acs plox
thank you!
DeleteJapanese message: Ganbatte, kudosai!

Good luck with work and all!

DeleteUmm, not sure what you want me to do with this? I obviously can't release another groups stuff. Can you contact me on msn or query me on irc or something.
DeleteMamanchu *_*
ReplyDeleteCould someone please translate the short Mamanchu!?
ReplyDeletedidnt see any acs credits here, who's the one who translate it? http://www.mangahere.com/manga/amanchu/v02/c025/
ReplyDeleteIt's not by us.
DeleteWish he'd discuss it with me about it first though, as I feel it's common courtesy since I've been working on this for so many years..
meh,im a stalker for 2 years here, always waiting for your next update till its done,do your best :)
DeleteI'm sorry, but you'll have to wait a just a little longer for the chapters - Exam season is upon me, alas.
ReplyDeleteI'm more than happy to entertain you with flowering control in arabidopsis, auxin signaling or science commercialization theories in the meanwhile though.
Here's another source for raws I've just found:
ReplyDeletehttp://rawcs.blogspot.com/2011/09/amanchu-update-volume-3.html?utm_source=BP_recent
I just read chapter 25 at Mangafox. Did you guys do that one? It seems to be fairly nicely done in any case. It's also extremely creepy and to me it feels completely out of place compared to the rest, which is a lot more "normal".
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was just about to ask about that too. I was wondering about who scanlated it, but there isn't a credits page.
ReplyDeleteChapter 26 has been uploaded to Mangafox, and it turns out that chapter 25 and this one have been scanlated by Teatime Scans.
ReplyDeletefinished reading the chapter 26 too,wow they're fast
ReplyDeletepretty awesome that Amano-sensei knows Rocky Balboa lol,Teatime also said that they already finished chapter 27 http://www.mangahere.com/manga/amanchu/v02/c026/28.html
ReplyDeleteChapter 27 just came out today. It was really heartwarming. Amano-sensei <3
ReplyDeletechapter 28 came out yesterday, holycow so fast o_o
ReplyDeleteAnd now 29 is up as well. Katori-sensei surely has some useful skills!
ReplyDelete> chapter 28 came out yesterday
ReplyDeleteAlice was titled "La nuova stella" on the Mensile Undine cover and technically speaking the Sun is also a star. Yet somehow I find that effect jarring.
Wait, if you guys are not the ones who scanlated those chapters....then does this mean those chapters cannot be downloaded on this site? Damn
ReplyDeleteAmanchu fashion
ReplyDeleteAny updates?
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteA bunch of early ARIA character colour designs by Amano-sensei. I have not seen these yet.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteCan you confirm if the entire AQUA-ARIA manga saga has already been scanlated to english? (Except maybe the lenghty Chapter 10 special at the end of AQUA volume 2.)
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteA little belated Xmas gift a.k.a. we drive you, Kouhai-chan!
Everybody Have a Happy New Year!
When I was in Kyoto, I saw a car like that drive through the streets. Maybe it's the same one?
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI've just realized that Junichi Sato, the director of ARIA anime has an active Twitter account.
Sincerely: Tamas Feher from Hungary.
Do you guys (ACS) still have an IRC channel?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Product of Wasted Time blog, the latest monthly Amanchu chapter has tentacles. That just sucks...
ReplyDeletetentacle in chapter 33! http://bigt1987.blogspot.fr/2013/01/amanchu-33.html
ReplyDeletelol...
Deletebtw, does anyone know what is Erino-san doing now..??
we don't have any news from her since two years ago..
Deleteoh...,is that so..
Deletethanks..^_^
at least she's save from the earthquake
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThis is ARIA Naver, looks like some kind of a game for the Android platform and supposed to be free. Don't know any specifics about it, as I do not have a smartphone.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteCan somebody please check if this scan is from a yet-unknown Amanchu! chapter (possibly the 2013 february chapter)?
If this is indeed a new page, then someone, who has command of the japanese language, could try to ask around in this webforum, as they seem to have new Amanchu and maybe would provide raws?
Bye, Tamas Feher from Hungary.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteProduct of Wasted Time blog now has Amanchu chapter 34 reviewed. Ai falls down the stairs and she weighs only 5 kilos.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteFound the Entire Comic Blade magazine raw scan (137MB large) with Amanchu! nav. 35 also inside. Check the folder sized 5,518,062 bytes inside. The uploaded.net link worked for me, albeit at slow free DL speeds, taking like 35 minutes to complete.

The scans are not very high quality. BTW, Product of Wasted blog time was right with their prediction of the Peter Pan connection!
It seems the ARIA Naver app is just a collection of famous quotes from ARIA...
ReplyDeleteHey, is still site still alive? There hasn't been an update in ages.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteToday the Comic Blade Mag 2013/05 issue has become fully available for download at RAWXT, with the new Amanchu! chapter 36 (or 37?) inside it.
ReplyDeleteASIMO Sachou is a little weird.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the anon who posted about the gondola game! I tried it, and though I didn't get it at first - you accelerate by pressing I and decelerate using O - when I did it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThe latest chapter - the one included in the download another (?) anon linked above - is chapter 37, for anybody who was wondering.
Amanchu volume 6 preview has been uploaded to the publisher's blog.
ReplyDeleteAmanchu nav37 raws are now available. In it, the club does a full chapter of diving, wearing some futuristic-looking (probably invented?) gear.
ReplyDeleteHave you heard about the new Tamayura: More Aggressive anime? Potte will drop the Rolleiflex for a gun camera and shoot kitties for YouTube.
ReplyDeleteComic Blade Magazine's 2013/07 issue is now available in raw at Dawnfun, with Amanchu's chapter 38 inside. This time it looks like late autumn and the little "octopus girl" goes for a stroll with Pikari. Appears to be some lyric stuff, not much happens and I can't read the japanese text.
ReplyDeleteHmm, seen something like that somewhere...
ReplyDeleteBTW, does anyone have the italian language dub for the finale of ARIA The Originaton (ie. episodes 9 to 13)? RAI4 and RAI Smash aired that a few years ago. Even the audio tracks would be enough. Thanks!
Somebody in Japan really did his or her homework, as expected from such a diligent nation! Here is an annotated Venice map in Google Earth Japan, with several dozen relevant ARIA sites and sights marked and illustrated with photos, as well as references to Navigation chapter and page numbers.

ReplyDeletethey picked it up if anyone's interested
Shocking new: Alicia Florence has just lost her gondolier licence
ReplyDelete(It was on the radio this morning that venetian gondoliers are now regularly getting tested for alcohol, after a series of embarrassing incidents are work.)
Comic Blade Mag 2013/08, new Amanchu chapter:
ReplyDeleteDotty goes gothic loli?
From what I can read from that blog, they have a Hallowe'en party (in July/August?!), during which there is a borrowing contest. I assume this is the game where contestants get a scrap of paper with what they need to "borrow" on it, they find that thing, and run to the finish line with it. By an unexpected turn of events, the winner will get an extra prize in the form of a kiss from Pikari, and for some reason this gets Dotty all fired up. You can choose how to interpret that, but I know how I will myself... ;)
ReplyDeleteGoogle is now doing a "street view" of Venezia, first with backpack cams on foot, but purportedly there will also be a "canal view" by boat.
ReplyDeleteOne must wonder if the some ARIA fans got wind of this development and will smuggle gondolier girl cosplay scenes into the panorama cam shots, just like "horse-head man" are often found in Google car footage?
Hello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/09 (August issue) is already available in low-res scanned raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 40 or 41?). Anyhow, Dotty goes Hogwarts. It's weird as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying it was available! I liked the new chapter a lot, it's quite calm and surreal - Amano-sensei's been putting in quite a lot of surreal/supernatural stuff recently, hasn't she? - and seems to be taking place in Dotty's dream. I was also amused by the "Starcats Coffee" :D
ReplyDeleteThis August 19 there was a fatal gondola crash accident in Venice that killed a german tourist. (The previous last fatal one was in 1996 or so.) Maybe ARIA was right, as pitch-black painted boats are not good for visibility even in daylight and white or bright coloured ones could, indeed be safer.
ReplyDeleteHello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/10 (September issue) is already available in low-res scanned raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 42). Dotty and Pikari in bed!
ReplyDeleteHello, the Amanchu volume 7 book will publish on 2013 Nov 09.
ReplyDeleteChapter 31 by Teatime scans is out guys! sensei using Akari's laptop lol ! http://www.mangahere.com/manga/amanchu/v02/c031/

ReplyDeleteHello! The MAG Garden Comic Blade Magazine 2013/11 (Oct. issue) is already available in scanned jp-raw format and there is a new Amanchu story in it (chapter 43). Teacher is a mermaid!
ReplyDeleteNon-Non-Biyori: Dotty goes amish!
ReplyDeleteRight Stuf Canada Anime Catalog 2013 Issue 3: anybody has this? It's supposed to have an ARIA the Natural crew interview inside.
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteIt's available online (9MB PDF):
http://www.rightstuf.com/rsstatic/main/printCatalog/2013_issue3_catalog.pdf
RightStuf 2013 Anime Catalog Issue 3, Page 4:
Aria directors Junichi Sato and Yoshimasa Hiraike interview (excepts in english).
A bit of trivia, which I didn't notice until reviewing some photos today. There is a venetian gondola called Alvise Carol (that name is inscribed on the family crest, which displayed in the middle of the pentagonal board that forms the front wall of the passenger compartment). See it here
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Kozue Amano saw that and remembered the name when the need arose to introduce a new gondolier girl character during the Aqua - Aria manga transition?
I always assumed that Alice's forename came from Alice in Wonderland. And her surname from the author of it, (Lewis) Carroll.
DeleteYeah, I thought that too. It seems more obvious, what with Japan's seeming obsession with "Alice in Wonderland", but it would be more interesting if it came from Alvise Carol.
DeleteAkari's Manhome gondola simulator now isn't too far removed from reality, as Google Maps has finally made the full street-level Venice calle view / canal view available over the web:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theguardian.com/travel/2013/nov/14/venice-google-street-view
Whoa, it looks great! As somebody who's never been to Venice but really wants to, this is a wonderful way to see the city.
DeleteAlso, since nobody seems to have posted this, Volume 7 of Amanchu! came out two months ago in the usual regular and limited editions. The cover looks nice, it's of the sister and brother (forgot their names, embarrassingly) in festival garb on it.
It's great that it's still coming out in Japan, but I wish someone would continue translating, even Teatime stopped :(
DeleteWho is promoting whom, where and to what level, single or prima?
ReplyDeleteVolume 8 is schedule to come out on May 10th, and the limited edition version is coming with a pair of papercraft models for Dotty and Pikari! (http://mag-garden.co.jp/ad/amanchu8/index.html)
ReplyDeletewhere are you all :<
ReplyDeleteTeaTime announced they will continue Amanchu! scanlations, eventually.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's great news! I'll be waiting!
DeleteChapter 33 released by Teatime Scans! :)
ReplyDeleteFatalchu!
ReplyDeleteMonthly Comic Blade magazine's 2014/04 issue is now out and it has Amanchu cover art. Apparently it has a scuba poster inside.
ReplyDeleteSooo... it's 2014 now, and still no updates.
ReplyDeleteI guess I can safely declare this site as dead. As a doornail.
So... where can I brag about all the Amanchu-locations I visited in Japan now?
Let me know, I need to brag about all the ARIA-locations I visited in Venice.
DeleteHello, do you think this site is serious and could actually work? If yes, the stalled scanlation project of the "Mensile Undine" issues could be revived, by reducing the amount of work needed!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.furiganizer.com/
"Enter Japanese text here. When done, press the "Furiganize!"-button.
... adds beautiful Furigana to any Japanese text
... learns which Kanji you already have mastered
... reveals the translation of any word if needed
... exports furiganized text seamlessly to MS Word
... supports JLPT and Jōyō standard skill levels
And all that absolutely for free"
Whoops, didn't see this comment last time I was here. Well apart from the fact I'm totally inactive - this doesn't really reduce the work. Sure having furigana helps but having to manually input it all and then the biggest issue still lies with the fact no TL is willing to pick up a project this big with so much text in it. And quite frankly most of the text would only be interesting to die hard ARIA fans.
DeleteI do have everything backed up still, including a bunch of edited pages and the following pages have been translated (and mostly QC'd I recall) 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24. Just because I've started it, I'll say I'll finish it - if a TL wants to do the rest - but that's extremely unlikely, so it's pretty irrelevant.
Couldnt you use an OCR to aid in the manual input? I've tried some before and they have about a 50% success rate with japanese. Its better than nothing,
DeleteAmachu! volume 8 cover design has been announced.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the french are already getting the Amanchu tankobon vol. 7 published in an OFFICIAL scanlation by Studio Ki-oon. The "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" are clearly defeating the anglo-american sphere here, isn't that terrible?
Is AmanoCentricScans dead?
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping that someone would scanlate the latest Amanchu chapters since TeaTime scans is on Hiatus
Live action movie "Aria: My Lucky Star" is now in the making.
ReplyDeleteI will.
ReplyDeleteManga aside - nowadays a lot of magazines and even newspapers have trouble sustaining print publications and many are moving towards digital. This is probably the direction of all these short-term throwaway print publications, which isn't bad and at least it's saving trees. Although Comic Blades free viewing decision is interesting, I guess they are going to plaster ads on every page?
ReplyDeleteHowever I don't see books or tankobon's fading away anytime soon, maybe sales will dip a bit but in the end these things are brought as a comfort purchase in the first place.
Agreed. It only costs me about $12 to import the regular edition and $20 for the special. Both reasonable pricing giving I live outside of japan
ReplyDeleteHello! Amanchu navigations 01, 51 and 52 are now online at the new webportal which replaced the paper-print edition of MAG Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine.
ReplyDeleteWow no ads. So I guess they are relying purely on tankobon and merchandise sales now?
DeleteToo bad the quality looks quite compressed, although it's definitely a step up from LQ scans.
beggers can't be choosers
DeleteAmanchu navigation 53 is now up on MAG Garden's website. Dotty gets high ZR factor. But what's the deal about that flying galleon?
ReplyDeleteYou may want to advise Teatime scans of this. Despite their inactivity they were the ones who uh.. so forcibly took responsibility for Amanchu. Unfortunately it's not so surprising to see a TL get bored or burnt out of a project, so you'll either have to rely on motivation to return or maybe another group to pick it up.
ReplyDeleteAt least here, we'll continue being comfortably ded. I've not even been in contact with my TL for years since we agreed to drop Amanchu after Teatime took it up.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteSomeone is apparently auctioning off a Kozue Amano doujin circle card, possibly from Comiket. The only glitch is, it looks like having her street address, although the uploaded version has a part of it redacted.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteAmanchu chapter 55 is now available for legal online viewing on the publisher's website (http://comic.mag-garden.co.jp/blade, MAG Garden Company Japan).
Best Regards!
Amanchu tankobon volume 9 will publish on 2015/Feb/10.
ReplyDeleteAn Amanchu chapter 56 footnote says there will be an announcement made on 2015 February 05.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMy observation: Google Translate is a huge failure when trying japanese -> anything.
In other news, an Amanchu anime by Junichi Sato appears to have been confirmed on Twitter on 6th Jan:

ReplyDeleteWe season 4 now.
Hello,
DeleteMay I remind you that BOTH of Athena Glory's seiyuu, for song and voice have deceased painfully young?
Hello,
DeleteThis is the early leaked and taken down official announcementm, copied verbatim:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:www.mag-garden.co.jp/aria/avvenire.html
This is a rough translation, off Reddit:
http://pastebin.com/abfYm8wB
DeleteWhy would she be drawing up new ARIA chapters?
DeleteI don't think the animation crew would be able to invent all those "scenery p0rn" visuals themselves.

I have been to Venice 2 times a year for 2-3 days, ever since 2009. I don't claim to be an expert, but can't deny what I saw. The degragation is visible and has multiple causes. But let's not discuss it here, as we are celebrating now, maybe?

DeleteEhh if you watched the dvd bonuses of the first few seasons, you can see the crew have visited Venice to gather visual referencing. And obviously anime episodes themselves aren't 100% referencing the Manga, its 23minutes of moving frames, all the in between isn't hand held by Amano frame by frame. If anything a Manga chapter is a lot less detailed than an actual storyboard.

DeleteAbout the story, as much as it would be wonderful to see brand new Aria shenanigans, I REALLY want to see them adapting all the chapters that were left behind, like the end of the Cait Sith story line and many more.
Anyway, it wasn't confirmed that we're gonna get a new TV season, right? Might be a movie?
I think this thread be closed and a whole new entry should be created in this blog for the occasion. After all, the 10th anniversary ARIA revival is quite a unique announcement.
ReplyDeleteO-okay..
DeleteHi there. I know the entry is pretty old, but I just want to drop by to show appreciation for the scans and translation. I love Amano sensei's work(I religiously study Aria annually). But her manga is very hard to come by in my country (people don't really read drama and art piece around here). So thank you for your great work.
