@Mez Well, now Amano dropped the whole romantic subtext between Hikari and Futaba, I have to get my kicks SOMEWHERE. And you have to admit that Akane's response on that bridge looks rather suspicious.
I am also amazed that they pick the girls up at Izukogen station. That's quite a way away from Ito station, where I was.
I recently finished watching Aria. Then I immediately read all of the manga to ease the withdrawal... And now this... this chapter of Amanchu... Amano, I salute you! *ocular gushing*
I found Akane and Chizuru to be parallels of Aika and Akari, especially with the hair and facial expressions. Ah, memories~~
And I think Akane's reaction is because she feels that Hikari "stole" her friend away from her and she feels a little lonely/jealous, hence the somewhat rude reaction.
Actually I can definitely see where you're coming from Motormind - now that I look at it that way. However I suspect the anon 2 posts above has the correct answer.
Also isn't the train trip to Ito so nice? I thought it was so nice, the scenery along the coast is real charming.
@Mez "I thought it was so nice, the scenery along the coast is real charming."
Sure thing, especially the whole part from Atami to Ito is wonderful. BTW: I also visited the Nagisa Shinsui Park Moon Terrace in Atami, which you can see in Amano's artwork for this series. But if I had known that Amano would go all the way south, I would have gone to Izukogen station as well.
And if Akane isn't in love with Hikari, is she with Futaba then? Japanese girls do tend to fuel infuse their close friendships with romantic overtones, so this is really not that far-fetched.
The chapter could be re-titled "Attack of the clones"!
Recycling embarrassing comment prohibitions is prohibited!
BTW, at the train station, Akari-clone sports Ai-chan's big handbag from the last ARIA special chapter.
Wasn't there a chapter in ARIA, as well, where Aika-chan/clone felt redundant?
Otherwise, the two clones find a placard posted on the suspension bridge. Shall that flowery language stop desperate people from jumping?
Ninomya-kun will be dekkai lucky desu with that many girls around to choose from (unless Ai beats him up as a preventive measure).
I think Amanchu! the story takes place in North Korea, because the portrait of Comrade Aria Sachou, the beloved President is posted at every possible public place. Catsonality cult?
The 2012 February 3-5. Ushicon convention in Austin, Texas will host ARIA anime director Junichi Sato. If anybody happens to be there, maybe ask him about any ARIA OVA, movie or Amanchu anime plans?
I think he could find better occupation with those then managing the Mortal Metal Shibagane storyline, which based on the first 3 chapters, looks to be an ecchi-mecha themed piece of utter junk, recycled for the N+1th time.
@Ano: That's a really great idea, I hope someone will ask him something like that, but if there's ever going to be anything new on Aria anime, it either would have to be original or animate some of those Special Navigations.. I think. However, Amanchu anime done right would be so worth it as well.
and about Yotsuba, I recall reading an interview with the author who said he rather not see an anime adaptation of Yotsuba. Ever. So unless he changes his mind..
Does it makes sense to wait any more for the Amanchu ch24 JP raws? They didn't turn up for previous chapters and the chinese ones are already available in various venues:
How many days were those Aika-clone and Akari-clone staying? From the story it looks like just a day-trip, as they go home at the end of ch24.
Yet, one of them carries a whole trunk on wheels, which does not make much sense in such a scenario, unless there is a dismembered Alice hidden inside. She upset them with that fast-track double promotion?
^ No, no, no, that's himeya shachou & her parent inside. Girls nowadays bring their parent inside their luggage when travelling and how can't you not notice that Alice appeared in every chapter?
Based on Google translate it may be a doujin-shi website run by Ms. Amano and R. Suzuki. It says Ms. Amano, currently being on "maternity leave" from MAG, has returned to her old pass-time of releasing doujin through collaboration.
You cant rush art. An artist knows that he does not decide when to make the art. Its the art that decides when he must craft the image. (Hell, same logic applies to novelists and documentarists. Its a matter of inspiration and support from the environment.)
Try to pressure the artist and you will recieve a failure
I think it's more probable that MAG Corp. told Ms. Amano to go on leave. If she had a problem with her pregnancy or the infant is often ill, she would not be able to meet ever-monthly timelines. Comic Blade Mag would then have nothing to print and would lose face for embarrassing its subscribers, a big no-no in Japan.
So MAG bosses went for safety and put Ms. Amano on a quarterly schedule for 3 years on so, but maybe she and baby fare better than expected. She likely revived doujin-shining as a pass-time and a source of some extra income.
Anyhow, why don't you tell her what you think and demand a full Ai-Aria arc in seven volumes before this year runs out? I think there is a feedback page on the website.
Thats a nice suggestion but I just wanted to have this doujins to be translated because I dont know how to read Japanese *cries* http://paricross.sakura.ne.jp/aria/ariatop.html?0330/paricross http://www.mediafire.com/?m6kc04nyno2b2ep
By the way, does anyone knows where to read the first part of "Waha"? its a doujin for Aria but I can only find the second part.
Click the image links for the doujins that I requests to be translated. I know the last one was already translated and entitled "Dear Akari-sama" but im just hoping at best that you guys will translate the other 2 Please?
Actually, you can get a lot done when you have to meet deadlines. I write novels, and some pressure is not bad for my productivity. Art is for a large part craftsmanship.
im a Novelist too but unlike you, I have my style of being a perfectionist and drafting first my works and making sure that my materials are if not always, rarely copied from my previous works. Yeah its a pretty annoying habit but it pays well to satisfy yourself and your readers
Amano must be suffering from the same problem of being a perfectionist. She must be having a hard time trying to figure out a way to make Amanchu similar to Aria in the goal of optimism but remain unique and original. I mean come on! she must have been dried up after creating such masterpiece. She had a long break sure but that doesnt mean that she gained much materials, inspiration and learned a new style in writing.
- Some theories can be put to rest now. According to description at the link below, the new Amano - Suzuki "You and me" doujin was sold at Comiket 81 and its profit went for the earthquake charity.
So maybe some fans were able to meet sensei face to face at the booth during C81, end of Dec 2011?
- Something completely different: I was not aware that one of Amano's old tampenshu was published in english as "World of Dreams" (see image, book cover in the middle of the bottom row):
The kind of winters shown in some ARIA stories are a bit exaggerated, but the last few days were the coldest in real Venezia for the past 20 years, with some canals partially freezing over.
Meanwhile, the Carnivale starting in a few days, they already set up the floating bull idol at the entrance of the Canal Grande.

Please tell me if it was now proofread and I will create the translated version of the doujin
FYI, we are not the ones responsible for translating that "Dear akari-sama" doujin, that was natural-log's work, and if he wants to do the new one I'll be happy to post the link again. Concerning Amanchu! we still have no raws and I dislike doing jp->chinese->eng, we miss a lot of translation information like this. For now we're going to attempt to contact that chinese scanlation group and see if we can work a deal with the raws (I don't mind splitting raw costs with them), so we'll see if we can get a hold of them and get a response.
> We're going to attempt to contact that chinese scanlation group and see if we can work a deal...
So typical: everything is imported from China nowadays!
Why not be super cheeky and use the mail form to ask sensei directly, if she would supply raws? Just explain what Amano Centric Scans is all about.
Looking a bit to the lower right, Arisu appears totally ashamed of such an idea. On the other hand, if Mrs. Amano's works receive wider coverage in english, some day Hollywood might pick them up and then she'll have another Ferrari.
Volume 4 of Amachu! is now listed in Amazon.co.jp for release on 10th of March. I don't know how many chapters will be in it but I presume it may run up to and include the elusive chapter 24.
I'll be ordering a copy from Amazon.co.jp which should get to me about mid-April via a friend who lives in Tokyo. If you're still missing that chapter I can scan it in for you.
I think Mag Garden are one of the manga publishers who go around issuing takedown notices for raw providers. Luckily they don't seem to be quite as energetic going after scanlators.
For anyone near Tokyo, there is an exhibition of ARIA manga cells in the Yodobashi Akiba Yurindo shop. It was made to celebrate Mag Gardens's 10 years of publishing and is scheduled to stay open until 03/25. It should be a stone's throw from the Akibahara shinkansen / subway station.
We're having difficulties contacting the chinese scanlation group, if anyone is able to get us some contact information or has contact with them that'd be quite helpful. Essentially I just want to ask if they are willing to share the raws, and I am happy to share the costs of acquiring the raws with them.
The website reference, imprinted in a blue watermark on the chinese raws, does not appear to exist any more (redirects to an advertisement site)? A somewhat functional March 2010 copy of that site may be seen here.
I wonder if Monthly Comic Blade can be purchased in an online form? Probably it would need some DRM-cracking before "scanlation", though.
It would be weird if such a high-tech nation as Japan still relied on paper and nothing else for manga. Especially with their focus of recycling, since there would be no hassle with collecting and re-processing old magazine issues, when using e-manga?
Maybe you could put up a Paypal donate link and we could try to raise enough money to purchase a subscription so we could have raws?
CDJapan has a subscription to Monthly Comic Blade available. It's USD $77 including shipping for 3 months to US, anyway (not sure where you are located, but it's the same price for Europe too). I would donate USD $20 right now, maybe some other people would too? I'm very grateful for all the work you've put in with Aria and Amanchu for us and it's worth the money to me. :)
I don't have a good enough scanner to scan it at the quality I'd like. If an experienced scanner is willing to do it (hi nojay), then that "could" be a possibility. But honestly I don't like this kind of paypal donation "begging" thing you always see on these scanlation sites. Like, I've stated before I'm wiling to share scanlation costs with that chinese group if they are willing and if we can somehow get in contact with them.
Yes we got ch24 from it, we have a status thing at the bottom if people haven't noticed. It just got TL'd yesterday and we're currently editing/typesetting. It's quite a big chapter so might take a little longer.
Manga Amanchu! to be animated, hurray! According to the official website, the anime of Amanchu! was officially announced. Source: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=414203
... and it revolves around a cockroach! Not even a thermonuclear war survivor cockroach overlord, just a single ordinary example. So miserable...
BTW, there are plenty of cockroaches and rats in Venice, yet somehow Amano-sensei did not feel it necessary to include them in the ARIA storyline. Someone needs to talk to her head!
> Why would someone import cockroach & rat to Mars?
Nobody imports them knowingly, but they hide and ride merrily within any cargo.
Namely, rats arrived in Venice with grain imports. That's why Venice has so many cats, they were introduced to catch the rats, but since the start of Whiskas era they couldn't care less. Cockroaches hide even easier than rats, since they are so small.
It also is lunatic to think that a terraformed, colonized Mars could be kept free of fleas, cockroaches, rats and harmful bacteria, while full of Google-white cats, doves, undines and tourists eating seafood. Don't watch too much Domestos and Toilet Duck TV ads!
Based on Amanchu! chapter 26 we can soon expect a new navigation 61 for ARIA. The story: Alice, Aika, Akari, Athena and Akira are on a lagoon excursion in Alicia's gondola.
Suddenly a mouse emerges from a fissure in the the gondola's double bottom. All undines start to run around screaming, but Caith Sith appears at the last moment and eats the mouse.
Akari is so grateful she marries him on the spot. In contrast, Atora, Ayumi and Anzu are much disappointed: they hid the mouse on purpose, hoping the entire A-team would jump overboard in panic and drown, so they could become prima undines much faster.
Huh? Catsuka blog has no info about this, nor does Mag Garden's blog. Furthermore, Amanchu manga has little raw source material so far and it's story has no progressed much in recent chapters.
Mr. Sato will have to work miracles to prevent Animechu from being a flop (although his pachinko-to-anime Sea Story adaptation worked somewhat, so let's hope).
It worked SOMEWHAT? I thought Umi Monogatari was a GREAT anime, and not even the copious amounts of fanservice could change that. The opening theme is one of my favorite anime songs ever. Also, I love Tamayura to bits, so I am sure Sato could do something worthwhile with Amanchu.
That said, I would already be happy with some more of the manga now. I just hope Amano will bring back some of the lovey-doveyness between Hikari and Futaba.
Looks like Mag Garden's publishers Comic Blade Mag will be available online from 2012 June 01, probably in paying format? This could mean there will be no waiting any more for Amanchu! raws or using a chinese intermediary out of necessity.

ReplyDeletethanks for the release but the question is the same, is it supposed to be chapter 22 mmm...~?
ReplyDeleteAkane and Chizuru are kind of like Aika and Akari...
ReplyDeletebut maybe I just think that because they have the same facial expressions.

(c) 2011 Kozue Amano and Rika Suzuki
Based on Google translate it may be a doujin-shi website run by Ms. Amano and R. Suzuki. It says Ms. Amano, currently being on "maternity leave" from MAG, has returned to her old pass-time of releasing doujin through collaboration.

ReplyDeleteAmanchu vol4 colour cover normal and hi-res, stitched together from Amazon Japan's preview zoom screen. Dotty sexy dynamite!
ReplyDeleteWe're having difficulties contacting the chinese scanlation group, if anyone is able to get us some contact information or has contact with them that'd be quite helpful.
ReplyDeleteEssentially I just want to ask if they are willing to share the raws, and I am happy to share the costs of acquiring the raws with them.
The website reference, imprinted in a blue watermark on the chinese raws, does not appear to exist any more (redirects to an advertisement site)? A somewhat functional March 2010 copy of that site may be seen here.
ReplyDeleteAmanchu changed back from quarterly to monthly, hurray!
ReplyDeleteOh now we can be even more chapters behind while waiting for raws, hurray.
DeleteI wonder if Monthly Comic Blade can be purchased in an online form? Probably it would need some DRM-cracking before "scanlation", though.
DeleteIt would be weird if such a high-tech nation as Japan still relied on paper and nothing else for manga. Especially with their focus of recycling, since there would be no hassle with collecting and re-processing old magazine issues, when using e-manga?
It's definitely to prevent online distribution, that's why they've been cracking down on the raw sharing in the first place.
DeleteMaybe you could put up a Paypal donate link and we could try to raise enough money to purchase a subscription so we could have raws?
ReplyDeleteCDJapan has a subscription to Monthly Comic Blade available.

DeleteLike, I've stated before I'm wiling to share scanlation costs with that chinese group if they are willing and if we can somehow get in contact with them.
Oh okay, I understand. Thanks for answering!
DeleteBtw just wondering, have you seen these Japanese scans of Amanchu volume 4? http://www.manga-zone.org/wordpress/?p=3241
Not sure if they're HQ enough for you to work from, but I dl'd the 2nd depositfiles link over there and it seems to be the complete volume.
Yes we got ch24 from it, we have a status thing at the bottom if people haven't noticed. It just got TL'd yesterday and we're currently editing/typesetting. It's quite a big chapter so might take a little longer.
DeleteIs amanchu a manga that release month by month?
ReplyDeleteor 3 month per one chapter?
The scary truth behind Episode 9 of Aria the Origination.
ReplyDeleteManga Amanchu! to be animated, hurray!
ReplyDeleteAccording to the official website, the anime of Amanchu! was officially announced.
Source: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=414203
And they also give it a new title: "One Off" instead of "Amanchu!". And now it's about a girl on a motor scooter. On a mountain.
DeleteIt just my little Apr 1st prank :9
DeleteChapter 26 already out.
DeleteEnglish scan Ganbatte!
ARIA the Natural anime episode 12 about to be banned.
ReplyDeleteThats not the right link dude, thats a link for banning of cat cafes at night
Delete> Chapter 26 already out
ReplyDelete... and it revolves around a cockroach!
Delete:D
> Why would someone import cockroach & rat to Mars?
DeleteNobody imports them knowingly, but they hide and ride merrily within any cargo.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly a mouse emerges from a fissure in the the gondola's double bottom.
Can't wait any longer, need more Amano-sensei!!
ReplyDeleteI was jw but, is this group dead? Almost half a year since anything.
ReplyDeleteNvm, sorry, Just read a few comments up about the status thing
ReplyDeleteUp!
ReplyDeleteA...Akari and Aika expies? I'm okay with this. XD
ReplyDeleteManga Amanchu! to be animated, hurray!
ReplyDeleteHuh? Catsuka blog has no info about this, nor does Mag Garden's blog. Furthermore, Amanchu manga has little raw source material so far and it's story has no progressed much in recent chapters.
DeleteMr.
DeleteThat said, I would already be happy with some more of the manga now.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend. I promise.
ReplyDeleteHi, Nice post thanks for sharing. Would you please consider adding a link to my website on your page. Please email me back.
