Before I get asked about Amanchu because i know someone is going to ask about Amanchu. No. We dropped it because Teatime picked it up and we didn't want to double up if someone else is already doing it. Go hassle them.
Ah thanks for the info - I was wondering what had happened. 1. Thanks a million for the beautiful scanlations you did on Amanchu up to now. 2. It's a real shame you quit because what we're left with is below the quality of your work.
Oh on a slightly different note, don't forget to pre reg for the ARIA rhythm mobile game! http://aria.harvest-game.com/pre_regist/ It'll be in moonspeak of course but don't let that stop you from being the master rhythm gondolar or whatever you actually do in this game.
Could you do the Aqua Vol. 2 special chapters which haven't been scanlated by any group or aren't available? I mean "Othello Game", "Enter The hero", and "Colds And Pudding".
Hello mez. I've been reading your Aria and Aqua scans since like (Wow this is for real), 2008 or 2009? Once its done and over, I totally forgot about this site (I stalk once a new Aria volume is out). All of a sudden a new chapter pops up and nostalgia hits me. Thanks for the Aria scanlations.
Hello, the ARIA manga franchise had a total sales of 4.5 million copies, according to this website.
Now they want to turn Amanchu! into PR for Ito region, in connection with the upcoming anime adaptation. Yet, japanese tourism officials should take note of the recent "Aoshima Megu" pearl diver controversy or better say scandal. Locals complained the manga girl mascot looked too young and too sexy. At that rate, K.Amano's artwork shall be burned at the stake by the Office of Holy Inquisition...
Thanks for this. I didn't expect to be reading more Aria in 2016. Is there any interest in any of you in translating Roman Club? It shares characters with Amanchu, right?
A bit late to the party, but, thank you guys for all the hard work and effort you put into translating Aria. That was one amazing read.
I'm surprised they released an extra chapter after so long. It was a nice wrap up to the manga.
Also watched the first ep of the new OVA. Brings back good memories of watching the anime a few years back. It's nice to see them continue the Aria series after so long (with this chapter and the OVAs).
Mez! It's been so long and I have only just discovered this marvelous jewel that you all have so kindly bestowed. Thank you for everything! Hard to believe the Daily Aria Threads were so long ago...
Batperson vs. Superperson goes Japan: some recent MAG Garden Pusblishing tweets, re-tweeted by K.Amano appear to suggest there will be a kind of cross-over between ARIA and Amanchu, in manga form?
What about udines learning SCUBA diving to sabotage and scuttle the rival companies' gondolas? Capitalism is harsh reality!
In other news, Maaya Sakamoto (Records of Lodoss War, Tamayura) will sing the OP "Million Clouds" for Amanchu! anime. I think she authors and sings all her music entirely.
You may remember ARIA Navigation 13 (anime episode s2e2) where the trio follow clues on an urban "tresure hunt" and eventually find a walled corridor that leads to a beautiful hillside view. That was somewhat weird since Venezia is flat as a board in real life.
Last weekend I think I found the site that may have inspired that scene. It is located in Monselice, a small historic town about 60km to the south of Venice. A high-walled, winding corridor leads up to the back of the old Cathedral of the city and at the top there is the scenic view, as well as venetian lion statues mounted on two pillars.
On Google Maps only the entrances can be seen, but not walked. The top entrance is here.
Amanchu! chapter 66 is now available onlien at the publisher MAG's website, in this URL "N" runs from 1 to 36, although there are several pages of advertisements at the end: http://comic.mag-garden.co.jp/assets/files/160605amanchuxs2/books/images/2/N.jpg
I think the first episode was dull and boring. Do you remember ARIA ep. 01? That was also boring until Alicia Florence rescued the cat from the sea and then suddenly everything changed to amazing in the eye of Ai-chan. That kind of moment was missing from this first Amanchu! anime. I mean they omitted the cross-country duel between Pikari and Ms. Teacher. Instead we were staring blanky at shoe lockers and empty windows.
I think Amanch! is not actually directed hands by Junichi Sato, he is just some figure-head in this case.
Someone has implemented the characters from ARIA as digital concubines for the "Custom Maid 3D 2nd edition" hentai computer game: https://twitter.com/nobelchoco
Worst thing is that Kozue Amano was re-tweeting that download. Something is seriously rotten in Japan.
You may wish to visit www.bing.com today (it's like Microsoft's Google Search) and see what photo they feature on the front page this day. Time travel is included.

I don't know which is weirder, but K. Amano's little daughter is practising voodoo magic and drawing man-eating ogres, while her mother puts all that on Twitter, see: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C1etjI3UcAAfqrb.jpg

Starting in June 2017, the singing voice of Sayaka Ohara (ARIA's Alicia Florence seiyuu) will be sold as a Vocaloid software soundbank named AVA LUMI. BTW, there are many vocaloid characters, but most of them never get their own holografic "live" concerts like jpop starlet Hatsune Miku.
VocAddict #95 did a quick translation of two interviews concerning Ava Lumi, the Vocaloid which carries the voice Sayaka Ohara (Alicia Florence seiyuu). One text about the voice donor, other about the tech staff. Apparently the lenghty recording process wrecked her throat, oops! See below:

Looks like 360k USD will cover american english dubbing costs for the entire ARIA anime saga, including Origination and the 3 tenth anniversary specials. Finding fitting voices could be a problem, however. Sayaka Ohara could re-enact Alicia, but a good english Akari candidate should be rare. I mean nothing ever really happens in ARIA, so its magic depends a lot on seiyuu performances and the BGM, of course.
I wonder if the ARIA "Mensile Undine" scanlation project could be reviewed on this marvellous occasion?
A total of 596.000 US dollars has been raised in Nozomi's kickstarter campaign and so the entire 56-part ARIA anime saga is now getting dubbed in NY, with the voice cast already announced. It goes to release on Blu-ray with entirely HD-upscaled video, which apparently includes a small amount of re-draw to correct obvious problems with a previous japanese HD-zoomed version.
Hopefully the dub will reach a lot of new people, who could never see ARIA otherwise!
From October 6th there will be an anime titled Girls' Last Trip, whose manga has sometimes been jokingly referred to as "Aria the Halftrack". It's an iyashikei about two girls riding a Kettenkrad motorcycle tankette in a post-apocalyptic world.
I was shocked to learn that Sayaka Ohara, Alicia Florence's seiyuu voiced the part of Ozen in the latest occult title Made in Abyss (an anime more accurately described as Indiana Jones' daughter and the satan's arsehole). Since Hagaren started the madness barely any anime can avoid to include people transmutated to goo, hacked apart and ritually sacrificed any more. This one only went a bit further by making the protagonists 9 (nine) year old kids in an R17 rated title.
I can't grasp why a veteran seiyuu decided to take part in such a shitstorm? Furthermore she knows english quite well and understands these kind of things made the world think the japanese are not humans and so got the A-bombs dropped on them. Olympic Games 2020 is such a sick place, better not.
There is an ongoing anime titled Yuru Camp, do check it out (4 eps already available). It has a girl who combines the likeness and stupidity of Akari with the enthusiasm of Aika and a semi-autistic little one a bit like Alice. It has the SoL, the CGDCT, the iyashikei, the scenery pr0n, some celtic and some Choro Club like BGM (are they or just sounds similar?) Generally YC does all of that right and everybody is raving about it on MAL. Already by the middle of 1st episode I was thinking that lake is sorely in need of a Servizio Gondole...
Over five years later, we have new Aria -- Aria the Crepuscolo premieres today!
> "That would depend if it has the title 'ARIA' in it somewhere."
Similar to Avvenire's premiere, they are releasing a theater pamphlet with a brand new special chapter, AQUARIAⅡ. Any chance of seeing your great work again for this? ^_^
It's a shame to see this blog slowly become inactive, with not even a single person commenting about the new Aria release, but that's life I suppose. But regardless and more importantly, I hope you are all healthy, and thank you very much for the wonderful years of Aria.
Hello, I don't know the details but there's also a Special Navigation Aquaria II manga which is more than 100 pages long. If someone scan it I will post a link (except if someone does it first) Also The Masterpiece edition of the manga has been released digitally in Japan in case anyone is interested. Thanks for everything and have a nice day

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your work.

That would depend if it has the title "ARIA" in it somewhere.

ReplyDeleteI own Tokyopops edition and that already has "Colds and Pudding" in it. If there are nice quality raws of the other two that can be a possibility.
DeleteIn Amanchu chapter 62 (2015-nov-06) the girls take the plane to go scuba diving. A bit jarring considering the recent Sharm-el-Sheik event.
ReplyDeleteBtw, it feels as if Kozue Amano didn't draw it, the character designs appear markedly different from previous chapters?
Thank you, ACS, for such Aria goodness in gorgeous quality. Very much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteHello, can anyone make any sense of this?

Hello,
ReplyDeleteApparently MAG Garden Corp, the publisher of Amanachu! story is running a Google Docs questionnarie concerning the future of the manga?
If you have a command of japanese, maybe it's time to vote to prevent Dotty and Pikari disappear into the abyss?
(I mean Google Translate says one question in the sheet reads like this: would you read if the series continued to be published?)
May I use your scans to translate this special chapter in Italian?
ReplyDeleteYes! Please translate it in italian, it would be great!
DeletePikari has big tits...

In other news, Maaya Sakamoto (Records of Lodoss War, Tamayura) will sing the OP "Million Clouds" for Amanchu! anime. I think she authors and sings all her music entirely.
